Beach & Boardwalk


Rules and Regulations

  • Beach badges must be worn when entering or leaving the beach and while on the beach.
  • The transfer of badges is not permitted.
  • Swimming in designated areas only.
  • Surfing in designated areas only.
  • No one is permitted on the jetties during the bathing hours.
  • No littering. Trash receptacles and recycling containers are located on the boardwalk.
  • No conduct which endangers the safety or comfort of others is allowed.
  • No persons are allowed on the beach between 12:00 am (midnight) and 6:00 am (with the exception of fishermen).
  • No sleeping on the beach between the hours of 5 pm and 8 am.
  • No changing of clothes on the beach or in any public restroom. Restrooms are open during normal beach hours and during special events at the beach.
  • No food on the beach.
  • No alcoholic beverages. Non-alcoholic beverages in non-disposable containers are permitted.
  • No picnic parties will be permitted on North Beach. Picnic parties will be subject to the permission of the Beach Manager/Chief Lifeguard and require a permit issued by the Police Department. Picnics will be limited to areas designated in the issued permit.
  • No private storage boxes on the beach or under the boardwalk.
  • No loud music on the beach or on the boardwalk.
  • No dogs or other pets on the beach between March 15th to September 30th.
  • Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the beach or boardwalk.
  • Skates and skateboards are not permitted on the boardwalk.
  • No bicycles on the boardwalk (riding or standing) between the hours of 5:00 am to 10:00 am from May 15th to September 15th.
  • Kite flying is prohibited on all beaches.
  • Playing games on the beach including but not limited to throwing, Frisbees, volleyball, badminton, paddleball, football, etc. is prohibited on beaches during bathing hours for the entire summer season.

Important Note

Due to concern over the Endangered and Protected Species found on an area of Sea Girt Beach, game playing of any kind (including but not limited to ball throwing, Frisbee, volleyball, badminton, paddleball, football, etc.) is prohibited at all times North of the Beacon Boulevard Jetty.
