Mayor's Message

Message from Mayor Ken Farrell

First of all, I would like to thank the citizens of Sea Girt who participated in the discussion on Dispatch at our Council meeting on 8 Feb 2012. We had a good open discussion on the future of Dispatch services for our Borough.

I listened to all the input both at the Council Meeting and that which I received separately. We will finalize our determination on this matter at the next Council Meeting on the 14th of March. The future construct for public safety in Sea Girt needs to be the right services, at the right cost, to meet the needs of the citizens based on the current day situation.

Also on 8 Feb 2012, Councilman Foley, our finance chair, gave an overview of the 2012 budget. In the past we had these as workshops but this year we decided to give this information at our Council Meeting. We hope that is of value to our citizens. The 2012 budget is to be introduced during our council meeting on Wednesday , 3/14,2012.  Copies of the budget will be available for citizen review on or about 3/15/2012. We will have our final budget hearing where the public is encouraged to participate on the 25th of April. We welcome your input on the budget.

We have had a light winter so far and I hope all our citizens have enjoyed the less problematic weather. Yet I can tell you this, if the weather becomes adverse in any way, our Public Works Department will maintain our streets in a safe and timely manner. Toward that end, in accordance with NJ State Law please do not shovel snow back into the street. We  appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

This year we will see a great improvement to our town¹s public services by opening our new Water Treatment Plant.  The new plant allows us to maintain the highest quality of water and remain an independent water producer. This is a project that has been in the works for over 6 years and I am glad to oversee its completion. It compliments the completion of our new sewerage pump station last year done by the South Monmouth Regional Sewerage Authority. We intend to continue replacing the infrastructure vital to both our water and sewerage collection systems as we complete our road projects in the next 5-6 years. We would welcome any questions you may have.

Our goal is to continue to provide the highest level of services, at the lowest possible cost. We are dedicated to maintain municipal services that are responsive to the health, well being, safety, security and general welfare of the community while we work to be cost effective and efficient.

As when I was a councilman and now as your Mayor,  I hope to accomplish this through strong leadership of an open and transparent local government.

Mayor Ken Farrell
