Attention Residents:

Water Conservation Notice

Mayor and Council have implemented the Emergency provisions of Sea Girt Ordinance 07-2010, which governs the conservation of Water in Sea Girt.

Due to the extreme heat, weather conditions and lack of any measurable precipitation, effective immediately and through the end of the day on 31 August 2010, our Sea Girt Borough is imposing a complete ban and prohibition of outside water usage, including the watering of lawns, shrubs, trees and plants (landscape features); the filling of pools; and the washing of motor vehicles.

This ordinance applies to water which is supplied through the Borough of Sea Girt water utility.  The use of non-potable water supplied by private well or means other than through the Borough’s water system is not subject to these restrictions.

This restriction ends effective September 1 2010. Our Borough is extremely close to exceeding our monthly Water allocation threshold as mandated and monitored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).

Please contact the Dept of Public Works at 732 449 6463 if you have any specific questions.

Sea Girt Police Department
PRESS RELEASE - Burglary of an occupied residence

Sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning, someone entered a residence in the 300 block of The Terrace. The subject removed a woman’s purse off of the floor of a hallway just off of the kitchen. The subject then left the residence. The home owners were home at the time of the burglary, but were unaware that it had occurred until Saturday morning.  It is believed that the burglary occurred between 10:30 and 11:30 Friday night.

This is the seventh burglary of an occupied residence in Sea Girt since January24th. It appears as though the subject looks through windows looking for purses, wallets, cash and jewelry, which have been left out in plain-view. The subject then looks for an unlocked door or window to quietly enter the residence, take the item, and leave undetected. Residents are urged to keep items of this type out of sight, and to keep their windows and doors locked at all times.

Residents are urged to report any suspicious persons or activities to the police department as soon as they are observed. The police department can be reached at 732-449-7300.
