Mission Statement
In the town of Sea Girt, the Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment are combined into a single board designated as the Planning Board. This combined board, when acting as a planning board has responsibilities, which include site plan review, the division of property, and review and/or revision of the Master Plan for the Borough. The board consists of nine regular members, and two alternates, appointed by the Mayor with consent of Council. The board convenes monthly, currently on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at 7:30 p.m., at the Sea Girt Elementary School.
The Planning Board encourages all Sea Girt residents to attend its meetings. Input from the public with regard to issues of development is always welcome.

Important Application Information, please carefully read the following:
The application, supporting documents and required fees must be returned to the Planning Board Secretary. The Board Secretary will forward this material to the Board Engineer for his compliance review. The Engineer has ten (10) business days form the time you file the application and the supporting documentation to review your file and to advise the Board Secretary in writing that your application is complete or, if deficient, how so. After re-submission the Engineer will again review for compliance within ten (10) days and you shall be notified in writing if your application is now complete. Once the compliance review is accomplished, and any deficiencies have been corrected, your application will be scheduled for a hearing at the next available regular meeting of the Planning Board. This review process does not relieve you of your obligation to present facts to the Planning Board at he hearing to prove that you are entitled to the relief you seek. In addition, the Board Engineer will submit a written report to the Board detailing the technical view of the merits of the application. The purpose of the compliance review is only to insure that all relevant and necessary technical material is present with the application before you are given a hearing date. After you have been given a hearing date, you must then notify, in most cases, adjoining property homeowners within 200 feet of your property as to the relief you are seeking and the time and place and date of your scheduled appearance before the Planning Board. There must be 10 calendar days between your mailing these notices by certified mail, returned receipt requested and the hearing date (i.e. if your scheduled appearance is on the 11th day of the month, notice must be in the mail by the 1st day of the month). The original mailing cards, must be given to the Board Secretary, with as many of the signed acceptance cards, 24 hours before the meeting, or your application cannot be heard and you will have to re-schedule and re-notice. In addition, all real estate taxes, water and sewer charge must be current (or brought current) 24 hours before the meeting or you cannot be heard.
